Making Professional Education Worth the Time
Professionals are required to engage in continuous learning (called “CPE” here) throughout their tenures. This is a nod to the idea that change compounds and its effects are hugely underrated. The purpose of CPE is obvious: keep those entrusted by society to do the hard jobs from falling behind.
My insight is that the CPE rarely fulfills this purpose as well as it could. Many participants become driven by the desire to comply with their licensing authority rather than to nurture the interests that drove them into their professions in the first place. Interests, especially professional interests, are precious natural resources.
They only grow when they’re engaged. Boredom isn’t just wasteful. It is destructive.

I specialize in engaging and relevant material and delivery. That approach has proven to resonate with a surprisingly wide audience. I’ve taught over 100 CPE classes throughout the country, both in-person and remotely. Non-profits, firms, and Fortune 500s have all engaged me to help their professionals think more clearly and work more effectively.

Professionals deserve education that respects their intelligence and their time. That is the standard I try to meet. The real payoff is that they’re often happier.
I’m firmly convinced that the professionals of the world are the best people in the world. They deserve education that makes them sharper, not merely compliant.
